Rob Sangster Named Head Ice Hockey Coach

The St. Francis DeSales Athletic Department is happy to welcome Rob Sangster as our next Ice Hockey Coach!

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY, 24TH, 2024 — St. Francis DeSales High School is thrilled to announce the appointment of Rob Sangster as the new Head Ice Hockey Coach. With an impressive coaching background and a wealth of experience in the hockey world, Coach Sangster is poised to rebuild the St. Francis DeSales Stallions to new heights in the upcoming seasons.

Coach Rob Sangster brings with him a rich history of success in coaching, having previously served as the head coach at Olentangy and St. Charles. During his 11 seasons at St. Charles, he achieved a milestone of over 250 wins and guided the Cardinals to the 2014 State Final Four. His strategic approach, leadership skills, and dedication to player development make him an ideal fit for the St. Francis DeSales hockey program.

Not only does Coach Sangster have an outstanding coaching track record, but he also boasts an impressive playing career. Drafted by the Vancouver Canucks in 1989 with the 155th overall pick, he went on to play professionally for 7 years in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), International Hockey League (IHL), and East Coast Hockey League (ECHL). His on-ice experience at a professional level will undoubtedly contribute to the growth and skill development of the St. Francis DeSales student-athletes.
