Rob Sangster Named Head Ice Hockey Coach

The St. Francis DeSales Athletic Department is happy to welcome Rob Sangster as our next Ice Hockey Coach!

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY, 24TH, 2024 — St. Francis DeSales High School is thrilled to announce the appointment of Rob Sangster as the new Head Ice Hockey Coach. With an impressive coaching background and a wealth of experience in the hockey world, Coach Sangster is poised to rebuild the St. Francis DeSales Stallions to new heights in the upcoming seasons.

Coach Rob Sangster brings with him a rich history of success in coaching, having previously served as the head coach at Olentangy and St. Charles. During his 11 seasons at St. Charles, he achieved a milestone of over 250 wins and guided the Cardinals to the 2014 State Final Four. His strategic approach, leadership skills, and dedication to player development make him an ideal fit for the St. Francis DeSales hockey program.

Not only does Coach Sangster have an outstanding coaching track record, but he also boasts an impressive playing career. Drafted by the Vancouver Canucks in 1989 with the 155th overall pick, he went on to play professionally for 7 years in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), International Hockey League (IHL), and East Coast Hockey League (ECHL). His on-ice experience at a professional level will undoubtedly contribute to the growth and skill development of the St. Francis DeSales student-athletes.

St. Francis DeSales High School is confident that Coach Rob Sangster will bring a winning mentality, passion for the game, and a commitment to fostering a positive and competitive team culture. The school community eagerly anticipates the impact he will have on the players and the program as a whole.

2023 Stallion Summer League Registration

The St. Francis DeSales High School Stallion Summer League (SSL) was started over 20 years ago by head coach and now principal, Dan Garrick with the intention of giving boys in central Ohio an opportunity to develop their basketball skills in an organized game setting. Although the games will be competitive and records will be kept, the absolute top priorities are for the boys to have fun, learn and improve!

The Stallion Summer League is open to boys entering Grades 5-9 in the fall of 2023. Cost: $200. The registration deadline is May 6th. Registration after May 6th is $250.

Jenna Mar Named Head Girls Tennis Coach

Wednesday, June 8th — Jenna Mar was formally introduced as the Head Girls Tennis Coach at St. Francis DeSales High School this evening!

Coach Mar is a 2019 graduate of Bishop Watterson High School and she recently graduated from Kent State University in 2022 where she served as president of the Kent State University Club Tennis Team. Jenna is a full time instructor at Wickertree, where she helps athletes develop technique and strategy through both private lessons and group clinics. She is currently working on her USPTA (United States Professional Tennis Association) Certification and she serves as a freelance writer for The Catholic Times and

Jenna replaces Tom Snyder who stepped down after leading the girls program for six seasons with an overall record of 76-33. Coach Snyder will remain on staff as the Head Boys Tennis Coach.

The annual St. Francis DeSales Athletic Association’s $10,000 Raffle is back!

The winning tickets will be drawn at the 2021 Friends in the Courtyard Wine Tasting and Auction on Saturday, October 16th at St. Francis DeSales High School. Proceeds from this event provide financial support for St. Francis DeSales High School co-curricular programs including athletics, band, drama, and over 50 scholastic and interest-based clubs.

Stallion Fans:

We are excited to announce we have created 4 different fall sports passes for spectators.  These passes are a great way for individuals or families to save money and catch all the Stallion sporting events.

All our season passes are available now at https://stallionpride.com/tickets

Once purchased, these passes can be downloaded onto your phone or can be printed. Present the pass via QR code at the gate to be scanned. The pass is good for one admission to every  regular season home athletic event. Check out the various passes and details below—when you get to the ticket page there will be several options listed, then choose the pass for you!

Fall Season Adult Pass – $75 – This pass allows one admission to every regular season home athletic contest for the entire fall season.  (not valid for CDAB or OHSAA tournament contests)

Fall Season Family Pass – We have created three separate options to accommodate families.

• Family of 4 pass - $200.00;  You will have 4 tickets for every fall home athletic event.  These codes can be shared with family members and stored right on your phones. (Not valid for CDAB or OHSAA tournament contests)

• Family of 5 pass - $230.00 - You will have 4 tickets for every fall home athletic event.  These codes can be shared with family members and stored right on your phones. (Not valid for CDAB or OHSAA tournament contests)

• Family of 6 pass - $250.00 - You will have 6 tickets for every fall home athletic event.  These codes can be shared with family members and stored right on your phones. (Not valid for CDAB or OHSAA tournament contests)
