Making the Team
Freshmen, Junior Varsity, and Varsity team tryouts will begin at the end of October. Every individual athlete will be given equal opportunity to perform and showcase their skills during this time.
Fall Lifting, Conditioning, and Open Gym
The girl’s basketball team begins these sessions in early September. This year the sessions were held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:15-4:45pm, and on Saturdays from 8:00-10:00am. Any female interested in playing girl's basketball, and is NOT participating in a DeSales fall sport, should be in attendance.
Official practices begin in late October or early November with the first four days of the season being reserved for tryouts. The Varsity and Junior Varsity teams will practice for approximately one hour and forty-five minutes, while the freshman team will practice for approximately one hour and thirty minutes each day.
- Our girls basketball program is known for its work ethic, discipline, and togetherness both on and off the court. Our players understand the opportunity they have been afforded to play the game of basketball, and cherish the life lessons learned from the challenges and triumphs that each season brings.
- The 2015-2016 St. Francis DeSales Girls Basketball Team returns four varsity letter-winners from its 2014-2015 roster. Returning seniors Monica Billings, Haley Hott, Spencer Ruebel, and Sydney Wilson will lead an inexperienced but talented team throughout the course of the year. Other returning players looking to contribute to this season’s success include juniors Jayla Arnold, Jaclyn Gilmore, Morgan
Mitevski, and Bella Shivley, along with sophomores Emma Burns, Abbey Dop, and Sarah Zaino.
- This season the varsity team will play a challenging non-league schedule including competition in the Jeff Sheets Holiday Classic at Teays Valley High School, as well as hosting our 2nd annual Roosters Stallion Holiday Classic. Along with our non-league schedule, our team will again compete in the rigorous Central Catholic League, looking to capture our fourth league title in the last five years!
